Deborah Simmons
|
Deborah Simmons is a marriage and family therapist who has been working with individuals, couples and families for 10 years.
She works actively with people to resolve a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, health problems, and marital issues.
She serves as a consultant to a reproductive medicine clinic and a number of OB-GYN clinics, helping individuals and couples who are struggling
with a host of fertility and reproductive issues. She focuses on helping people to make choices that are right for them.
She specializes in the areas of infertility and pregnancy complications. Often working in collaboration with physicians and nurses,
she employs a variety of techniques in her work, including hypnosis, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
She has found that the use of humor and improvisation is helpful in finding new solutions to life's challenges.
She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy,
the Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association.
Dr. Simmons received her Ph.D. in Family Social Science from the University of Minnesota. Prior to working as a therapist,
Dr. Simmons worked as a Congressional aide and lobbyist in Washington, D.C., and a health care policy analyst in St. Paul. She is a principal
partner of Partners in Psychiatry and Psychology.
