Next to our brain, there is no organ system in the body that has more nerve tissue in it than our digestive system: the gut. Little wonder that our digestive system has been called our “second brain.” In addition to its obvious role in digestion, the gut plays an important role as the body's energy generator where energy is transduced from one form to another. For many, it is also where conflicts between how we live and who we are can erupt in a pattern of psychophysiological dysregulation we call Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Many patients experience tremendous frustration seeking relief from IBS, a syndrome often misunderstood in our conventional health system.

At PPP, we have developed a treatment program based upon a protocol that has been successfully used in Europe for 25 years. It has shown itself to be effective and results in benefits that last for years. The treatment involves training in methods of self-regulation that re-establishes a healthy balance to gut functioning. The program also builds upon the innate mind-body connections that we all possess to produce greater health and resiliency in the fact of challenging life stressors.
